Jerk confidence

I had this the idea the other day, about confidence behaviour. Not entirely related to jerks, but that's the front aspect.

Some guy (I don't think I live in girl-jerk social networks) approaches you and starts chatting you up. Do you think 'Hey, this guy is great!'. Bzzzt! Wrong! This guy has confidence, heaps of it, and the ego to match it. You're his next mark. Notch. Whatever.

Notice that guy who gives you a couple of glances, maybe a smile, but doesn't come over and try to pick you up? While he doesn't have blistering confidence now, in the right setting, he'll try to date you. With confidence.

In a group of friends, and confidence guy is giving you heaps of attention? Chances are, he's either a jerk or he doesn't really want you. Again, the guy who doesn't give you the most attention? He wants you. Unfortunately, he's not in the right situation to give very obvious clues.

And that's my theory. Assume all above are single or polyamorous.
